(GotFrag) - What started in early July with 84 teams from all over North America has finally come to its triumphant conclusion. The CEVO Sennheiser Open, the second Open tournament hosted by the CyberEvolution guys, will have itself a winner come hell or highwater this Saturday night. In one corner are the reigning-everything champs United States Pandemic, fresh off the NVISION 2008 GeForce TF2 LAN Tournament win down in San Jose, CA (just incase you live inside a box). Pandemic's run to the final has been an expose of dominance & consistency, with only one dropped round the entire tournament.

In the other corner, a scrappy cast of characters that many wrote off time and again (okay, maybe just me), United States Devastation. Barely escaping a R2 cp_badlands match against United States ferveNt (reliq), then knocked down to the Lower Bracket by United States Sway Gaming, Dev played with their backs to the wall for three straight matches, overcoming United States GZOS, United States Xensity & Sway in a grudge match to claim their place in the Grand Finals and secure at least 2nd place.

The Grand Final will be in Best of Three format, with each team choosing one map and CEVO picking the tiebreaker (if needed).

Pandemic winz, pz pz lates.

..alright, I'm not that much of an ass, but it's tough to make any other choice given the circumstances. Pandemic's GeForce 2008 win is just the latest trophy to be hoisted up by the team, who have won almost everything they've competed in stetching all the way back to their 2nd place finish in the TGL Roughneck Cup (except for a 2nd place in ESL with 100+ pings). They also breezed through the Sennheiser, slapping down 5-0 wins like it's their job (maybe one day). Screw David & Goliath, this is a Phelps & anyone-who-gets-in-the-pool scenario - game over, lights out, eat my 8 gold medals and like it.

Now, I'm not saying this as a Pandemic fanboy - actually, if anything, I'm a Dev kinda guy - nor do I necessarily think Devastation has zero chance (..there's always a chance). To save time, lets assume Pandemic wins whatever map they pick (personally, I'd go with cp_gpit, but that's just me). Dev's slim ray of light is their own mappick, which I have to assume will be cp_granary - the same map Pandemic got swept 5-0 on at the recent LAN, and the first map I've seen Pandemic lose in a long, long time. If Dev can take cp_granary, and maybe get a little lucky (cp_fastlane anyone?) on the tiebreaker map...

I'll leave it at that. I don't really think that's gonna happen, but I'll admit that there's a possibility, only because I don't like to totally slam what will eventually be the losing team.

Pandemic [2:1] Devastation
