Originally published at www.teameximius.com. Redo on CEVO-P: Everyone needs to go back to CEVO-a. With CEVO-P having so much trouble keeping teams, there's no reason for them to even have a CEVO-P division. Although not all the teams in CEVO-a would not be at the same caliber, unless they get more teams, it's impossible to split the divisions. Unless you plan to play very few matches and have a small playoff season, a redo is upon us. I know many teams would rather play more matches and win than playing 5 matches, and if you lose 1 you might not make it to the 3 team playoff bracket. As TF2 grows, they will get more and more teams and be able to have the split division. The Teams: The teams need to keep solid players. To many teams have had switch-a-roos this season and it looks fishy. With that many people dropping/joining they could have had more teams. Once we get the teams working well together, we will be on an even better start. The Offseason is the best time for this. Offseason Interview: Few: So far, what have you guys been doing to help the teamwork, and keep the team strong? Dipset: Well, in the offseason we've mostly been practicing almost every day working on chemistry and trying a few out of the ordinary strats. We were playing cal and TGL for offseason leagues but cal said our team was hijacked and we have to wait till next season to make a new one :(. As for TGL, that started last week but our 1st match was a forfeit (guess the other team got scared >:). Few: Who are the two new members you have picked up for this next season? Dipset: Well, with the departure of Clint "saber07" Appleseth, Gabor "unf" Nemeth, and Jason "ashenhaste" Pittman, we decided to pickup Craig "NightMare`HX" Webb, Andy "emperor" Hargrave, and Matthew "TecH" Lorenzini; all formerly of CEVO-A Champions Legacy to replace them. Also with team founder Marc "sphynxx" Vaillancourt going completely inactive to peruse his dreams of CoD4 superstardom (lol) we've picked up Justin "justin / deft" White. Few: With those new members, how big of an impact do you think you will make on next season? Dipset: With these new additions I have absolutely no doubt we'll take a top finish in CEVO-p next season and any upcoming tourneys. Don't let the fact that the 3 players we picked up are from CEVO-a, they are 100% top tier players. Their record of 11-1 from last season and only loosing 2 rounds in the playoffs shows off their skill. Few: After coming so close to winning CEVO-P, do you agree with a redo of CEVO divisions? Dipset: Well, yes and no. I think next season we're going to see a pretty big increase of teams entering the league, so CEVO-a will probably have enough teams for two conferences maybe Atlantic and Central. As for CEVO-P though, they (at least in my opinion) need to do a few crucial things. Firstly they need to limit CEVO-p to 10 teams. Secondly, they need to schedule matches by week, so for instance a team knows who they are playing only for that week and not for the next week before the other two matches have been completed. This will hopefully limit the inactivity. Also, they need to have another placement tourney for any team that finished CEVO-p under rank 4 or who had any forfeit losses in the playoffs. This will breed more competition AND give new blood to an already weak pulse CEVO-p. Few: You have also had a few team changes, in the long run how do you think it will affect the overall outcome? Dipset: Well allot of the teams this off season are restructuring their lineups it's almost as if next season will be playing against completely different setups then we've seen in the past. I personally think it's for the best because not only are a lot of new talented teams showing up on the scene but a lot of different unorthodox strats are being formed by a fair many teams. Few: If you had the choice to change 3 things in CEVO from last season, what would they be? Dipset: Scheduling is a main thing that needs to change. I mentioned earlier on making it by week and making sure that they have no inactive teams. Crits being on a lot of the season ended up killing a lot of the interest in CEVO-p. Also, they need more of the admins to be involved with the teams. They need to have a direct contact to get in touch with for matches/questions. This would help out a bunch. Pipher and Anh (who are great btw) are the only admins anyone's really seen at all. Few: With 20ID being your rival last season, do you think you will keep up the rivalry and be able to beat them this year? Dipset: Absolutely. Even before our losses to them we played 20id a lot, we take some...they take some, but I think with the changes too our lineup we'll probably take them all next season. Few: What's the best way for the FANS to follow TF2, and do you pub a lot so that fans can join with you and have some fun? Dipset: The best way for fans too follow TF2 currently is probably through GotFrag or Trypants (www.trypants.com). I do pub but currently there is no "populated" competitive pub with crits off and playing league maps. This is something I've been looking into starting for a while now actually, maybe we'll see an Eximius pub soon? Who knows ;-) Few: Do you have any Shoutouts? Dipset: Shoutout to all the Eximius teams, staff and sponsors and to everyone who keeps plowing TF2 everyday even after valve breaks then fixes every class. ================= Few: What's the best way for the FANS to follow TF2, and do you pub a lot so that fans can join with you and have some fun? Blackstar: I think the best way for fans to follow team fortress 2 is request demos from the players. The players also need to post the demos on GotFrag for the fans to download. The community also runs pick-up games at night so anyone can play. Just a few weeks ago, we played with robin walker the creator of team fortress 2. Few: With 20ID being your rival last season, do you think you will keep up the rivalry and be able to beat them this year? Blackstar: The 20ID rivalry will probably will not be there this upcoming season with the new roster we obtained from legacy, the CEVO-A champs. Few: If you had the choice to change 1 thing in CEVO from last season, what would they be? Blackstar: I would like to see CEVO give more variety to the single team matchups throughout the season. An example of this, would be a Bo3 format. Not every team is strong in all 3 play styles (CTF, CP, Stopwatch) I feel a lot of teams achieved higher/lower seedings than they deserved, and it also allows for more options for #tf2scrim. Instead of scrims being limited to one map per week, there is a variety |
