I am putting together an Arena Tournament.

There will be prizes. GFX cards, etc.

It is at the early stages but I wanted to get your opinions about how to run it.

4v4? 5v5? No medic. I love the usefulness (and threat) of a dispenser.

niCe. maybe have classlimit of 1 so people dont run scouts/snipers only as hitscan has a pretty big advantage on arena (esp w/o medics)

4 or 5 sounds good...ill go with 4 for more teams.

I agree with #2. People taking potshots all day with hitscans would be pretty boring, and 4 or 5 sounds good.

4's would definitely be good. But, maybe 5's just because people tend to house large teams for TF2 -- gives everyone more play time.

I like the idea of no medic and limiting classes to 1 per class. That way even with 4 or 5's you'll see a diverse group instead of 4v4 soldier action or something to that effect. Though 4 Heavies vs. 4 Heavies sounds fun! ;)

i think it should be 4v4 with no class restricts so we can run 4 medics exchanging ubers with sawing people

What maps would you want used in the tournament? VALVe and maybe custom maps.

#10 just the maps that valve released for arena gameplay

One of each class is definitely an obvious one. No medics because the intricacies of combo vs combo is based on capping points and pushing territory which doesn't apply in an arena environment that is all about dm. As for the size I'd probably push for a 4v4 or 5v5 format. Anything smaller than a 4v4 like a 3v3 or a 2v2 has a chance to be dominated by one good sniper, more players lowers that possibility but obviously you don't want too many people on the field or else it will be spammy. So my vote is 1 max class, 4v4, no med.

I like it because you see a lot of "5s with medic" so this would be something a bit different.

Only problem would be hitscan still, but w/o medic it's always gonna be a problem... 1 of each class should help eliminate some of it.

Allow a medic, there's no health on those maps anyway..game is slow enough as it is. We don't need people sitting back on dispensers!!

Actually that does bring up a point, there will be a lot of camping your teams level 3/dispenser and waiting for the "other team" to make a move. =o

hello, isnt arena based on how long you can stay alive? not how long you can get heals like a newbie, 4v4, no medics, 1 of w/e class excluding engi/medic.

As of now we are leading towards:

5v5 - no medics - 1 class limit

3 players max from Current teams (so the community grows a little bit and we can try and spread the talent or *******: going to be making the dream team arena team)


Engineer is a must - Teams wont turtle.

There were some awesome clutches, 1v1 situations, 1v4 situations, going to be sick.

We have multiple server companies ready.

We have casters ready

We have some old school teams getting ready to come back for this.
