Back in March, the Teamliquid StarLeague was announced with the help of Razer who sponsored this event with a $10,000 prize pool. After a grueling few weeks of ladder play, the top forty-eight players in the ladder would advance. The remaining competitors were forced to play in a similar format to that of the true professional leagues in South Korea.

Coming into the round of sixteen we would see six protoss, two zergs, and only a single terran left in the tournament. The heavy favorite to win the entire event, the number one seeded Christoph "Mondragon" Semke was eliminated by the WCG Poland champion Grzegorz "Dreiven" Kordek in the Round of 16.

On Saturday, March 17th the first two matches of the Round of 8 were played. The first Protoss vs Protoss matchup would pit perhaps two of the most experienced players on the scene: Krzysztof "Draco" Nalepka and Aleks "White-Ra" Krupnick. This extremely close series would end in the seventh game with the former professional gamer Draco coming out with a victory.

The second match would be between Pavel "RoX.BRAT_OK" Kuznetsov, a relative unknown before this event who has been the surprise of the tournament along with being the only remaining terran. His opponent Grzegorz "MYM.Dreiven" Kordek, fresh off a victory against Mondragon certainly had the momentum coming into this match. However, he was overwhelmed by the Russian powerhouse who would sweep the Polish protoss without too much trouble.

On Sunday, March 18th of the final two matches in the Round of Eight have been scheduled to play with Canadian Jianfei "IefNaij" Wang taking on the Chilean youngster Cristóbal "MYM.DinOt" Lledó and the American Tyler "NonY" Wasieleski facing off against the Polish zerg Rafal "GOsia" Kontowicz.
