A brief summary of Week 5 on dod_Lennon along with a top 5 statistical breakdown.

Season 5 Week 5

CAL made a great decision by substituting Lennon in for Solitude in week 5.  Lennon promotes an extremely fast pace, combined with needed team coordination and fragpower.  Teams were originally slotted to play Solitude, but after testing the map's competitive efficiency in preseason, chose to play Lennon instead.  As per usual, the community voiced their opinion in religious fashion in an attempt to mold the league around their expectations.  Again, CAL listened to the competitive community and made a beneficial choice for both the league and the players with the switch.Quick paced and team oriented, Lennon provides exactly what competitive players look for in a map.

Week 5 of this 5th season proved to have some of the best matchups to date.  The long awaited matchup between the only two remaining undefeated teams was squared away, while some of the lower tier teams really caught fire on the brand new map to DoD:Source.  It can simply be characterized as a very fast paced, high fragging environment.  There isn't much time to sit back on Lennon unless you plan on getting trampled.  In addition to its quick paced action, Lennon is one of the very few maps that includes two double cap territories.  This feature alone can set apart mediocre maps from great ones, as they are heavily reliant upon consistent team chemistry and good communication.

A lot of close matches this week, some of which came down to the last minutes of the game:

 Results:

Divide Gaming    >    Pure Gaming

Another underdog week for Divide, this match was sure to be a great one casted under the shadow of the two undefeated teams in invite.  Pure Gaming was without a starter this week due to a questionable cal ban, therefore needing to relearn a good portion of chemistry they'd worked so hard to gain in the first place.  The first half pitted Pure on axis, and for the most part, toolbox and deli held their own in traditional fashion.  Getting out to the early lead proved costly for Pure as they started playing slower as the half progressed.  Back and forth from start to finish, Pure capitilized when Baba lagged out in the final minute of the half, up by more than a cap at that point.  Second half was no different for Deli and friends.  They continued to pile one after another on the Well, eventually getting two solid caps on Divide.  This was Divide's night though.  With two minutes to spare, Divide found themselves down by two caps.  A nice round of shots by Flint offered the first cap, and with just over a minute left, Divide looked for the killing blow.  Strong heavy play in apartments by Mow and Cube-n forced Pure back on their first flag, and by an act of Jesus Divide capped out for the win with 10 seconds on the clock.  Amazingly close match against two of the more solid invite rosters. Divide takes it 477-444 and moves to 3-2 on the season.  Pure takes a step back at 2-3.

Rebirth from Divide: I thought our overall team performance was good. However, our team really came together in the closing two minutes in obtaining 2 caps with one coming in the closing 10 seconds to seal the victory. I thought Pure played well as a team but in the final two minutes, they seemed to have fallen apart. Unfortunate for them but fortunate for us.

Midnight Tokers    >    ohRly?

OhRly came into the match highly favored, but had been struggling to solidify their starting roster after the great win over Pure in week 2.  On the other hand, MT comes into Lennon with a chip on their shoulder, consistently underestimated but still unproven.  The first half shows MT on allies side, allowing Polar to match top-fragging Lotus, from OhRly, shot for shot.  The entire first half appeared to be in OhRly's favor, but msd's subpar performance gave MT a few solid capping opportunities, and they surely took advantage of them.  The second half was a different story.  MT shook off the rust and forcefully took control of Well for a large majority of the half, due in part to the fluid shooting of Liquidmetal.  As allies, OhRly's scheme was ultimately overpowered by MT's chemistry and poise.  Despite being overfragged, MT dominated their second half, taking the victory 362-300 over the favored OhRly squad. This inturn bumps MT to a respectable 2-3 as OhRly settles in with the same record.

Buddylee from MT: Pole-Are decided to get cute and drop 30 with a Tommy.  Second half was intense and very back and forth, until we were able to score a last-minute cap to put the nail in the proverbial coffin.
