Making frag movies can sometimes come across as a bit of a science. The basics are not that difficult, but alot of people will experience that never the less, they run into problems along the way. This happens wether you are just starting out, or have done it for years. Frag movies are just like so many other things surrounding the gaming world a preference thing. What type of movie, the pace, where you wanna put your emphasis, the quality, the size, the codec, the type of music, do you want to make it simple with little editing and effects or do you want to make it crazy and artistic. These are all things that you will have to take into consideration when making a good frag movie.

There is no Holy Grail containing the sacred answer to what is right or wrong, it is all a matter of preference. In my experience, the best frag movies are made when you let yourself get inspired. Find out what type of movie you are making. What "look" do you want to go for? What would suit the movie best? Do you want to make it funny, or should it be pompus and epic for instance? Do you want to tell a story in order to capture your viewer, or do you simply want to create an inferno of nasty frags and make people's jaws hit the floor? These are all relevant questions you should ask yourself before you begin making your master piece.

Another important thing is the musical selection. This is sometimes the hardest part of making frag movies. When it comes to music, everybody is a critic. So do you want to go with something you know the majority will like, or are you willing to take the chance on getting flamed because you really think that Barbra Streisand rocks? Typically the choice stands between using Rock, Rap/HipHop or a classical piece of some sort. These are the somewhat "safe zones" although, it is no guarenteed success. Personally, I like to dig up good music that most people don't know about. The reason for that is, that you don't risk that people have a biased opinion about it due to mass manipulation, which could easily be the case with more popular music. Of course, doing this requires that you listen to or know alot of music, or you do some research into what could possibly work for your movie. But once again it is a preference call. I have personally used everything from rap music, to hard metal, to classical pieces even used Stevie Wonder once and it all worked out well. Don't be afraid to experiment.

But without further ado, we will now move on to the basics...
