I want to introduce "CS:S Config .NET" to you all, which is finally released in version 0.3.
What is CS:S Config .NET (CSSC)? Currently CSSC is the most powerful GUI based programm to create and optimize a Counter-Strike: Source config. The Program contains about 130 commands (CVARS), which can be composed individually. All commands are described and some are even illustrated with images. It doesn't matter if you're new to CS:S and not familiar with the structure of a config or an experienced player, who writes his config on its own: CSSC takes all the work on its own riskless, because CSSC neither uses old deprecated commands nor any sv_cheats-CVARS. Thus it's totally "cheatless".
Are there even things CS:S Config .NET is not able to do? Except the Buy-Script there's no category for scripts currently. However, there's a category where you can add references (exec *.cfg) to other configs. Also CSSC is not able to make coffee. ;)
Sounds great, but is there a snag to it? No, there's nothing you could regret. CSSC is absolutely free and stays free of any charge. You don't even need a Steam account let alone any shady account data. Thus you don't need an Internet connection either. The only restriction is that you have to use Windows (Windows 2000, XP or Vista) and you need the free Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (maybe it does run with 2.0 as well).
What's actually the idea of CSSC? Even people, who are familiar with the CVAR/Config system from VALVe products, will agree, that the confguration is kinda painful. The idea of CSSC is to offer a more comfortable way to configure configs. It shall be possible to allow anyone to adjust and optimize his config without the need to know every single command. The development is leaded by A. Kwaschny, who once was an active player himself and started this project to deliver his work to posterity. The project started September 2008 and lives on the community that surrounds CSSC. The program is supposed to be user-orientated and transparent to offer as much tolerance as possible. With 4400 lines of code the whole thing is already quite advanced. But there're still enough ideas to extend and optimize CSSC left. ;)
How can I support CSSC? Promotion is always appreciated. The more players use CSSC, the more feedback I receive. The idea of CSSC does only work, if the community tells the developer what features and things should be done. That's why the community is most important here. For those who are newsposter or webmasters and want to support CSSC, I appreciate articles. ;) As for promotion material, there's a 468x60 banner, I will mention in the end again. If you like to make graphics yourself and maybe even want to share them, contact me. ;)
So where can I get the program now? On the following website you can find a detailed description and the download, either as an installer with setup routine or as an archive without setup routine.
