Counter-Strike: Extreme Masters III to hold U.S. events

The Extreme Masters series has released plans for a triple crown of North American tournaments.
Recently it was made public that the Extreme Masters III tournaments would make an expansion onto North American soil, with each of its three events being held in correlation with existing tech and gaming conventions.

The three North American events will feature a combined prize pool of $80,000, a total of $240,000 across the three tournaments.

Featured games are slated to be Counter-Strike 1.6, as well as World of Warcraft. Top performing teams will be invited to compete at the Extreme Masters Global Finals, held during CeBIT 2009 in Hanover, Germany.


Extreme Masters III - North America Tournaments

Global Challenge New York City, NY

Date: Sept. 25th - 28th
Venue: Digital Life
CS 1.6: 16 Teams, $50,000
WoW: 16 Teams, $30,000
Global Final Slots: 2 Slots for the continent of the Winners

Global Challenge Montreal, Quebec

Date: Oct. 17th - 19th
Venue: Sport Compact Performance Trade Fair
CS 1.6: 16 Teams, $50,000
WoW: 16 Teams, $30,000
Global Final Slots: 2 Slots for the continent of the Winners

Continental Finals Philadelphia, Pa

Date: 21st until 23rd of November 2008
Venue: VGXpo Gaming Expo
CS 1.6: $50,000, 8 Teams - 2 from South America, 6 from Online Main Round
WoW: $30,000, 12 Teams - All from Online Main Round
Global Final Slots: : 2 for each game

Consisting of a total nine LAN events, and coupled with three online leagues dispersed across three continents, this years Masters series looks to be the largest in its history.
