GotFrag speaks with MoB Gaming's Shaun "Hostile" Catron in preparation for the second GotFrag Revival Tour tournament. ![]() (GotFrag) - MoB Gaming finished in second place in the first GotFrag Revival Tour tournament. MoB also finished second behind x3o in Season 8 of CEVO Pro CS 1.6. MoB now looks towards the next GotFrag Revival Tour tournament and a chance at taking home a first place finish and solidifying the team as one of North America's very best. In the second of our series of interviews for GotFrag Revival Tour Tournament #2, GotFrag speaks with MoB's Shaun "hostile" Catron. MoB has taken no time at all to be considered a top three team in North America. However your results against EG and x3o have not been consistent. What do you think it will take for MoB to rise past those teams as the clear-cut top team? Well, thanks for considering us in the top 3 :]. To be honest, we're still a really new team and we've been changing our players around a bit for the past month and haven't really buckled down and gotten to really playing with each other a ton yet. Once we get a bit more organized and everyone is on the same page, I'm sure there will be some better results. You have played for both x3o and EG at one point or another. Does that experience come into play, giving you some insight into their play styles and tactics, or have they switched up everything since your stints? Well teams are always trying to change up what they do, but having played with all the players, I've picked up most of their tendencies on all the maps, as well as I'm sure the same is for them with me. I think we all have a feel for what we all like to do. "I've never looked at anybody as unbeatable or as a "powerhouse" ...just another team. MoB will get their first taste of international competition at ESWC later this year in San Jose. With your experience in international play last year, what changes do you think are necessary in order for MoB to be able to compete with the European powerhouses? The necessary changes are just getting on the same page. I've never looked at anybody as unbeatable or as a "powerhouse" just another team. I hope my whole team can have that mindset with whoever we play at ESWC, because every match will be against an upper tier team. With both MoB and x3o qualifying for ESWC, do you think there is any additional pressure to perform and be the top placing US team at that event? Additional pressure? no. We won't worry about what x3o is doing or how good they do at the event. All that matters is how good we do. Saying that we're already the #2 seed, shouldn't the pressure be on them to out-place us? What will it take in order for the 1.6 scene in North America to come close to resembling how things were before many of the top teams switched to CSS? Do you think this will ever happen? THE ONLY WAY that will happen, is if those teams come back. The whole scene has fallen off even worse than it was 2-3 months ago. We go times where we literally take 1 hour just to find a team that's actually playing, and after that we wait another 30 minutes. The level of competition has dropped significantly and like i said the number of teams have nearly diminished. ![]() How do you think things would change if CGS suddenly disappeared, and all of the CS teams returned to 1.6? Do you think the top three teams would look any different from how they do now? That's hard to say really. I do feel that since the teams have gone on that many of the top teams have actually gotten a lot better. I do feel that coL could make a steady return to 1.6 and be right back on top where they left off. It seems like MoB has been having some roster issues lately, with a different lineup being used from week to week. What is this instability due to, and has your permanent lineup changed at all? Yeah well about that, basically we just felt that we weren't going anywhere with the 5 we had at times and needed a change. We were still a new team and still are so changing rosters wasn't a huge deal. Give us a rundown of the members of MoB, defining the roles and strengths for each. we all frag.
