NVIDIA Drivers

I use the newest NVIDIA drivers for my XFX GeForce 8600 GT but it can't handle more than 4-5 smokes, idk why..

Are there any drivers better than the newest who works better for 1.6 or smthn?

Make sure it has the proper cooling, isn't underclocked, things like that.

How do I find out if it's underclocked and how do I clock it up?

I have 2 GB ram, it should be enough.

what are ur pc specs??
is ur processor or video card overheating?
whats ur OS?? (If its VISTA, then get 4GB)
are ur video card settings right?

i have a 7600GT and when i used the most recent drivers from nvidia site, i am more laggy. however when i use the drivers from the driver cd, i get better performance.

it cud be jst a laggy server tbh 4/5 smokes at the same spot cud be that u r playing public and servers lag when there are too many users on it

The reason i use GF is to achieve 4 nerd stars and look E-cool.

#18 no, XFX is no of the best, I bought one too.

I tried with my CD Driver, now I can get 7 fps without fps drop

shamo, the only thing i can think of that the others havent, is ur card overheating? cuz if it is it might b ur problem. cuz i have a old 6800 agp card and when it overheats i lose mad fps on cs, otherwise when i cool it down i get 100 fps again even in 4-5 smokes. check ur card temperature and match it to the idle temperature the company that made it said.
