I thought I would just take a minute to express my opinion on immaturity in the CS community and the general disrespect of other human beings, and how that effects the CS community.
I believe that after woman (and men even started working more) started getting jobs and the family structure changed kids started to want more and more attention due to the lack of it from their parents. As the routine carried on of mom no longer always being at home things changed, kids became more desperate. For the record I'm not saying that woman shouldn't work, I'm just simply stating what seemed to have happened.
Now how does all this fit in with online gaming? People have been getting on to forums and CS and other games and flaming people they have never met in their life, as you know. I have tried for forever to think of a reason as to why someone would develop the drive to make war with complete strangers from the internet. I really think that its because those kids found a source that could fulfill that lack of attention from their parents. When you get on CS or another game or gotfrag forums even, people are flaming 24/7. When they get online to these games and or forums or what have you, they go on there and yell at someone or talk down on someone in game. I believe that they found a great source to fulfill their lack of attention, because people talk back to them in defense. They go through this argument and all of a sudden 5 people on the other team or in the forum are all talking to this person. They effectively got what they came for.. attention! This I believe could also be a reason why people cheat so people will talk to them.
Why is this bad for the community's? This is horrible because people will forever look at these online community's as just places to down talk full of rude people. Also it fuels conflict between teams and sponsors look down on that and it kills the "professional" part of CS.
Please, post your opinions, and if you flame me well you already know what I think is wrong with you so don't even waste your time.

Because, in terms of the perception within the gen pop, it's embarassing to genuinely care about gaming and invest into said community. On any level. Someone like Midway would say he delivers for his paycheck to justify his passion, some other characters would crawl out of their skin to outline that they have nothing to do with it and show how 'normal' they are in comparison.
This is why people who've been around for years find solace in trolling and flaming. It's their way so one doesn't need to get angry about this.
