I play cs for four months, and I'm that kind of player that goes in a pub and gets a 10:2 score(wich to me is a really good score in a pub cuz I really suck)and then I change server, and go to another pub where I get owned. Can you guys tell me how to improve?
What kind of practice works for you?

btw, I have a 1MB connection but I rarely get more then 500KB. Does that affect you shot reg?

dont play in pubs....download irc get in #findringer and start scrimming...make friends and play with them more...keep playing...you have a long way to go.

deathmatch non stop to improve your aim, then start scrimming with friends to build up some ingame smarts. from there go into a league and do cal o for a few seasons and gradually youll just get better and better.

thats what i did atleast :D
dickin down the competition since '02

quit while you still can, or you'll get addicted and fail at life. it takes years to become even 'good' and its not worth it at all.

Learn how to control the recoil of your guns and play quake live when it comes out to help with your aim.

How does it take you a couple season to get out of cal o? I got out in my first season after playing 2 weeks prior... I did switch from UT / Quake so I had aim but still its not that hard.

1st don't listen to Terminator......that is a one way ticket to being bad.

2nd definitely don't listen to Fodder......you'll be cheating and dodging LANs before you know it.

3rd DM, IRC + Gamesurge + #findringer = scrims, buy ESEA.

4th dl Rift.cfg (most DL file on the internet). You'll be pro in no time

dont listen to #11 he will never get out of cal-o.

dont download any one elses config...play how you want to play the game.

also dont get esea...its a waste of time and you only play against terrible people....and you wont get better playing against bads.

deathmatching is the best way to go to increase your aim.

but i really think you need to listen to #9. I do to agree with him. This game will take over your life and you will miss out on so many other things in life. PLEASE do not play this game. There is much more to life and once you really get the feel of the game you will never stop. also it can take about 2-3 years to become "good" at this game...yet still you will have a couple of years to really learn how to play....go play source...its easy and not addictive.

well school will start soon and I will have no time to play so I doubt I will get addicted to it...
I never became addicted to a game and I doubt I'll become addicted to Counter-Strike.

#10 shutup and don't be a show off... you should realize that ppl play this game for like 6 or 7 years and then turn pro(in most cases as they never are good enough to go up earlier)... i have played this game for 5-6 years and as i am not in america(fake flag) i am sure i am play at cal-p level and not anything above.... it is hard to play this game due to the competition nowadays...(although i suppose cal-o is just too bad to be spending time in more than a season)

#1 just death match like crazy and scrimm... if you are dedicated enought then try to play on lan too... i mean play in scrimms for a year and you will destroy a pubber like hell
i love to lick feet

It's a long read, but I recommend you read it...it's my opinion.

Personally, it's a matter of time. If you like the game, play it.

I've been playing cs for god knows how long (on and off since 1.3), on a good week I'll rape the sh*t and get banned for hacking, on a bad week I'll be lucky to stay 1:1. I've never played league, I scrim every now and then; nothing serious, just to break the monotony of pointless "see how many people I can kill this round".

If you want to 100% devote yourself to getting better, go deathmatch, break it up here and there with some pubbing, and deathmatch more; at least an hour or two every day. The best advice I can give you through personal experience is to test different servers and find one with a community that matches your skill level (best is one that slightly better than you are, so that they give you a run for your money but you're still able to survive rounds). If you want to play on a horridly bad pub, find the .. (lobby of laughter) clan servers....they're srsly bad. (one of the many that banned me....after I've pubbed there for years)

Concentrate on using sound and your radar effectively, sound is deadlier than aim 4 times out of 5, and PLAY SMART. There's more personal experience coming up:

The game is based on instinct. Against any smart player, if you take time to think, you will die. The trick to counterstrike is to get in these situations often enough so that after so long, you don't think, you instinctively know what you should do. As these skills gradually improve, so will your aim and situational awareness. Then you're up to decide how exactly you want to play, aggressively or defensively, learn the pros and cons for both, etc. The most obvious thing I can tell you with 100% confidence, is that if you're in a pub that's like 10v10, and you see on your radar an empty area, I'd run there and assume it's littered with enemies (the only logical reason why your team isn't there). I've gotten in sh*t so many times in pubs for running after them and being interrogated as to how I "knew people were there". Also, if you suspect there is an enemy afoot, CHECK YOUR CORNERS. Nothing is a bigger pissoff than getting gayed by the scrubblet hiding behind a box.

You won't become good in a day (or a week/month for that matter), but if you enjoy playing counterstrike, just play it, your skills will develop over time. After you grasp the general concepts of it, you'll be able to judge peoples skill levels on the way they plan, when that happens if you find someone that's playing good (i.e. raping sh*t and not hacking), hop in spec and watch him, don't so much "watch him" as pay attention to what he does, and think of why he does it. If they're just sitting back AWPing don't bother, it's boring, but if they're up on the front lines ripping people, I would honestly strongly recommend you watch them, and learn from it.

Also, as a P.S., surf servers (if you want to learn to surf :P) are really good for muscle reflex training. I've always enjoyed them and I've consciously noticed an improvement in my game after a 30min~ surf session.

^ anyway, my $.02.

look for DM (death math) servers... dm's are the best way to improve ur aim/dodge/movement/hearing skills

gogogo u will be good in like 2 mounths ... than u star to play quake so u can learn how to strafe... learn to strafe on 1.6 is so sux....
^_^

play in CSDM servers, pubs are worthless because they are random.. it will take you a veryvery very long time to get good

lol #20 "hearing skills" you are probably one of those nubbies that abuses their sound hard.. like its hard to know where things are coming from

that is why you will never get good because you abuse your sound vs people who are just running around

Well here are a few bits of advice I can offer to you for now, #1:

• First off musclemory is an infinitely useful and practical map created to help players amateur to professional hone their crosshair displacement fluency and control. Aiming is a talent which has to be developed over time with experience however the musclememory map if utilized properly(and yes safely) can help astronomically. What the musclememory map was intended to help a player do(be it an amateur player or even a professional player) is to help to substantiate a player in his or hers ability to aim, at both a conscious and subconscious level. The map consists of an area in which the player spawns where the player can choose to teleport to two areas. The first teleport in the spawn area teleports the player to a room with a basic alignment system(8x). The player can teleport back to the spawn area from the current area by dropping to the bottom of that particular area. The second teleport in the spawn area teleports the player to an area with an advanced alignment system(64x). The player can teleport back to the spawn area from the current area by dropping to the bottom of that particular area. The way to utilize the alignment system of each area is to simply trace over each point from and back to the origin point of the alignment system. Practice repetitions and sets and their orientation are completely subjective to the player in question.
A YouTube demonstration of the basic alignment(8x) system can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dU9-fN1Az0
The musclememory map can be found here:

• Participate in each and every online scrim and pickup game you can just so you can. The pros: you get experience, you can play with and against a vast spectrum of players of all levels, and you are bound to have a good time all the while. The cons: you will encounter many players who will turn out to be cheaters along the way in which case you simply attempt to find another scrim or pickup game if removing the player that is cheating is impossible(remember to play out and be good sports regardless, then leave or remove the player that is cheating) and your location may limit you to a disappointing array of players to play with and against depending upon the player in question(yes we all know how many areas of the world eSports and Counter-Strike alike are far under appreciated by the mainstream community of that particular area thus resulting in a more often than not disappointing pool of players to play with and against[this holds especially true for some states in the United States{such as Florida state}] however if you are to ever look just a bit more closely you will always find at least a few players you really enjoy playing with so chin up).
All in all participating as many online scrims as possible can allow you to cover a lot of ground as a player and gradually acquire the experience you need.

• Participate in as many LAN events as possible. The pros: you will almost never encounter a cheater at a reliable or reputable LAN event so never fear, also you more often than not(depending on the LAN event in question) will possibly get the chance to play with and against professional players from across the world which is crucial experience for the aspiring player, and all the while make a pretty fine penny if you do well(depending on the LAN event in question). The cons: traveling to and from LAN events and the preparation that goes with each LAN event can be draining, both physically, mentally, and financially, so be wary.

• Take a Counter-Strike lesson from a Counter-Strike instructor at FPSTrainers(I was a Counter-Strike instructor there; I now give Counter-Strike lessons for free) or ESEA.

• Watch POV demos of professional and semi-professional players. The pros: demos of professional players(and in some cases even semi-professional players) can be infinitely educational. The cons: unless you understand what the player in question is doing in a demo and why he does it a demo is worthless as the point of watching a POV demo is to see what a player does, how he does it, and why he does(do not watch a POV demo for just entertainment purposes if you are trying to learn as you will often watch oblivious to the methodological and meaningfulness of the player in question's actions and inactions).

• Find a team that suits you. Chemistry is vital amongst each and every player. Dedication(both player by player and as a group effort must always be united under a common purpose lest the teams morale and each players morale eventually degrade into nothingness over time thus leading to the death of a team or retiring of a player). Always remember practice makes perfect: if you or a teammate player does something correctly do not point out the mistake until after the scrim if it as major one, or if it is a miniscule error simply correct the player in question immediately after the round in which the error was committed is over as to prevent the error from being committed again by the aforementioned player. Remember nobody is perfect. Every player has his or her flaws and strengths so learn to appreciate and respect each and every one of those strengths and weaknesses.

• Be courteous and respectful to each and every player you meet, you'd be surprised how much it pays off in the end(for example: if you get a scrim, then find another, inform the first scrim you got that you found one, rather than be rude and simply forgot about the predeceasing scrim you found another scrim for whatever reason[show some manners]).If you have problems do not take your discomfort manifested from these problems out on other players for that is not only unfair but also uncalled for, instead if anything discuss the problems you are experiencing with a fellow player(espcially if the player is on the same team as you as they will definatly be willing to help you out). You'd be surprised. A little kindness goes a long way...

• Never give up(you will come to regret giving up on anything, trust me).

Anyways hoped some of these bits of advice I had to offer help you, #1.
