It really doesn't even need to be said that the US teams are not on the same international skill level as everyone else. So there really isn't a debate about it and this thread makes you look stupid.
sorry to say but x3o never had a chance and never will. theyre just not on that level as consistently as the other teams are. if x3o wants to compete internationally theyre going to have to make some adjustments.
X3O raped Group one... Got placed in Group two with two of the top teams in the world and another American team. Went 2-1 in the group and failed to get out all because of like ONE round or some shit.
EG isn't good. There run at kode5 was a fluke and I hope everyone starts to think that. However, x3o is a very skilled team and I assure you if they had more teams in the United States who took Counter-Strike seriously (you know.. practice for the international scene) they would be much better than they are right now.
And just to throw this in... I think they are pretty good right now. They could have easily advanced passed group 2 stage and you never know what could have happened from there.
EG plays super randy where they it either pays off against the big teams and they come away with an upset or they lose rounds one might describe as hastily played.
Then you have x3o who play the 'right way' in terms of organization and teamplay but don't have the raw fire power to get it done consistently against the world's elite. The problem there being that tournaments are so tight and competitive now once you get into the last 12 teams of a big tourney that you REALLY need to be able to grind out some 16-13 or 16-14s against the teams who are a few notches above, otherwise you don't even get a shot at a top 8 which in itself isn't an amazing accomplishment.
It would make a lot more sense to have a team run like x3o but composed of the best 5 active CS 1.6 players in North America. This should probably have been done back when x6, turmoil and eMg were the big 3. Makes no sense to be wasting unnecessary energy dividing up talent when the pool isn't strong enough to support more than 1 top 5 team.

What do you mean they are not on the same level consistently as international teams? They rarely get to face any real good teams unless they are at a big lan event such as this one. They placed top 5 at GameGune (their first international event) and should have gotten out of group play second day at ESWC.
They not only beat e-STRO, a team that just came in second at ESWC.. losing 16-14 and 16-13 in the finals) but also beat mTw... a team who is ranked #2 in the world currently by g7.
For that being their first MAJOR lan event I would say they did pretty well...
x3o looked very hungry at ESWC. To say they're not on their level isn't exactly accurate. They beat mTw and some other international teams worth mentioning. Obviously they just need more experience in simply PLAYING teams outside the US. That's always been a problem of this country. We're limited in the teams we can compete with on a regular basis.
I cant disagree with you guys really. i think they played well at the tourney. but you have to admit while watching them play against the other international teams that you wished theyd have a bit more raw aiming in their team.
So you are saying going undefeated in Stage 1: Group Play (beating e-STRO and n!faculty) and then going 2-1 in Stage 2: Group Play (beating mTw and MoB while losing to mYm.. who won the trny) is because they aren't good enough?
They beat a team that came in 2nd at ESWC and lost to the team that won ESWC by the score of 16-10. If you honestly think x3o could not have pulled up another upset after Stage 2 with the way they are playing I think you are underestimating how good x3o actually is.
They have some vastly underrated players on their team who the international scene should starting paying attention to.
But you have to understand this was most of x3o's first big lan event. As I mentioned in my previous post I think the international players and fans will start hearing about impulsive and goodfornothing a little bit more as they will be more ready for their next one (hopefully WCG).
Impulisve was missing a ton of awp shots that he would normally be hitting in CEVO or at x3o events but maybe he was feeling a little bit of pressure.. idk.
#22 Impulsive was their strongest player during ESWC. He may have been feeling the pressure of a big event but it didn't look that evident to me during his matches.
#20 I do agree with you there a tad. Impulsive/ben/gfn have that raw aim definitely. As for the others, had they been replaced with maybe n0thing and another solid aimer you might see them a bit higher on the international scale. Then again, sometimes sacrificing chemistry for fragging abilities has brought some teams down instead of up. You could also say that new chemistry could also be built. Never know!
the problem is x3o doesnt have anyone to carry the team, i.e zonic carries his team, neo carries his, forest carries his, msx carries his.. and when coL was here frod always made sure they got those curcial rnds
#26 Those players tend to play very well but they definitely do not carry their teams at all. Just looking at recent matches kuben/taz carried MYM at ESWC, cArn/dsn for fnatic, however fRoD was always beasting his matches.
american cs
Proven fact.
x3o is the only team who had a chance...
fix'd
bottom line american teams just can't compete on an international level anymore.
I remember that then they came back and placed top 3 at almost every event
And just to throw this in... I think they are pretty good right now. They could have easily advanced passed group 2 stage and you never know what could have happened from there.

having chemistry is great.
new and exciting strats and anti strats are great.
but sometimes you just need that raw fire power.

x3o beat n!faculty, eSTRO, and mTw at ESWC.
MoB beat wNv at ESWC, but only lost to SK 16-10.
i'd say USA is doing fine... but could be doing better.
I hope you don't think m4gic should be replaced :(
