although i can appreciate the so called stratting of euro teams (wait till 30 seconds left, 50 flashes into site and rush in) i have to say i like the aggressive style estro plays.
how strong is the cs scene in asia? are there up and coming players to replace the likes the solo, bail, enemy, mal, ari, jungle, alex and co?
Indonesian Counter Strike Scene is pretty good right now actually . But lack of sponsors that want to give us opportunity to play in international tournament is our main concern.
Hope that our country can give surprises in WCG Cologne this November .
Thats to bad to hear about the cs 1.6 scene in asia, hopefuly it makes a come back. I really enjoyed wacthing WNV, HACKER and ESTROHopefully with a couple more good showingsestro can bring back some of the cs 1.6 players that left to play counter strike online whatever that is, not that I am saying its bad, just never heard of it. The asian teams always make matches interesting with their signature play styles.
gaming in korea is huge for sure but i think the gamer/celebrities are the starcaft players. i could be wrong. i just think it would be a shame if cs died out with estro/lunatic/wnv over in asia
e-stro starcraft players are like celebrities not cs players, lunatic-hai did make a comeback and was supposed to attend CPL (which everyone boycotted) so iam hoping next time korea gets 2 slots for ESWC etc so we can see them in action too, aprt from that dragon, wNv are gud teams and if CGS dies the wNv source team can come back aswell :D
The reason i use GF is to achieve 4 nerd stars and look E-cool.
Basically in ALL of Asian, only 3 teams are worldclass right now. eSTRO, dragon, and wNv. wNv really needs to step it up but they really need a bit more skill i think. dragon is a well balanced skilled team who can already hang with the best. And eSTRO are just aiming machines with amazing chemistry and teamwork.
When I was in Korea, CS wasn't very popular. Starcraft is by far the most popular game in Korea, and you can frequently watch Starcraft on basic cable over there.
As far as fps games go, a game called "Sudden Attack" seemed to be pretty popular, but it looked kind of Source-ish.
I was also in a clan and there was never a shortage of scrims or anything, but you just see the same people all the time which has it's pros and cons.
And I'm pretty sure there aren't any gamers with their own line of ice-cream bars...
Recently Lunatic-hai beat Seoul Jinhwa (old Maven) in the CS Online finals to win the $20,000 US first prize. On the way they also beat eSTRO in a tense bo3 (they came back from losing 9 rounds in a row to win out on train).
Anyway, CS isn't popular due to the way Valve do their Internet Cafe thing, it's all Sudden Attack and Special Force now.
When I went to Korea over the summer at the PC Bbang's (Lan Gaming Centers) I didn't see anyone play CS - it was all MMO or Starcraft. Back in 2002/2003 a lot of people were playing CS though.
A number of the Asian players seem to use high sensitivies so fast and aggressive play with a lot of pushing will always play into their favour more than a slow and methodical game typified by an ALTERNATE.

hmmm ... too bad cs isnt that popular in korea . Here in India its quite popular but people play cz rather than cs 1.6 which is a little irritating. Hope it stays that way all over the world and cs gains popularity rather than dying out :-\
