Call Of Duty: E-Rev to host CoD4 tournament

By: Kyle Feeley - Published July 01, 2008 at 6:39 PM EDT - Writer Archive
E-Rev to host $3200 “Road 2 Glory” COD4 Tournament.

With the rise and fall of the COD2 series came also the rise and fall of COD LAN’s from Cyberhub to climaxing at WSVG Dallas. During these times there was always a stable prestigious online event in SOTF. SOTF has come and passed, and it is far past time that a similar tournament/cup is made available to the community. We are starting to get some decent LAN’s , but some prize pots aren’t worth the travel funds.

Thus, E-Rev welcomes you to R2G #1!

Tournament Information - Due to a bit of a leak in the pipes, and not wanting another company to hop on the band wagon, I have been forced to release “Road 2 Glory” to the community a few days sooner than E-Rev had initially planned. So stay tuned to this post for the tournament details to be set in stone the next few days.  I can tell you we plan on doing this maybe every 3 months or so.

Date:
Again, do to an early mention , the date is not set in stone, but will be by the end of this week. R2G #1 will most likely be a 4 week , double elimination bracket starting the week of or after the Cygamez LAN.

DATE UPDATE : As of right now , Round 1 and Round 2 will be played  Monday August 11th and Thursday August 14th. This will give teams plenty of time to travel for CyGamez LAN.

Details known for sure:

-Matches will be played twice a week for now, this is subject to change.

-Entry Fee will be $100 Per team. You may have as many players on your roster as you like, however absolutely no ringers will be allowed. You must be registered on the given teams roster on another tournament or league website. GUID’s /IP will be checked.

-E-Rev will not take a single cent of your entry fee at this time, Nor do we plan to in the future. The only possible way we may, is if we need to pay for anti-cheat. If this is the case, the percentage taken will be only enough to cover the anti-cheat, and won’t be needed in the future R2G tournaments.

-Thus this tournament will have at this point and time a $3200 prize pool if we fill the 32 spots. Cash Prize payouts will be as follows if 32 teams sign up, if not they will be adjusted accordingly:

1st - $1600
2nd -$800
3rd - $480
4th-  $320

-Tournament will be a 32 team double elimination bracket.

-At least 16 teams have already been ,or will be invited to pre-pay for this event. If you have not been invited, do not PM us, it will not help you. We may invite more depending on the skill level. We want to make sure the BEST TEAMS who want in , get in. This will be a tournament of the best teams in NA that are willing to participate.

-If the 16(or more) slots have been filled, we will then open the remaining 16(or less) slots to the public and the first 16 to pre-pay will be entered into the 32 team bracket.

- Seedings: Kyle "hackett" Feeley - The written word of the COD series in NA for Gotfrag.com will be taking care of the seedings. His opinion is probably more respected and unbiased than any other, and will be a big asset to R2G.

- Match Comms and Team Roster/GUID logins will be available through once the page goes live, don’t bother clicking as it isn’t yet.

-PAM mode will be enabled , and a special version will be made for R2G #1. You won’t see anything out of the current ordinary.

-Anti-Cheat is being worked on right now , we will have some sort of Anti-Cheat System in use during the entire tournament. This is a 100% guarantee. Demos and Smoke SS’s will be required.

-All matches will be eligible to be casted by , and no other company :)

-All matches WILL BE  SPECTATED  BY A MEMBER(S) OF THE R2G STAFF.

Staff -
This is what is going to make R2G happen several times a year, and hopefully be the success we have all envisioned. All staff will be volunteer , and respected members in the COD community. The R2G staff list currently is mostly E-Rev staff , from my team (MadCast) , or a community figure. If you would like to help with this tournament , and can bring something to the table , PM me on these forums.

-Scheduling Staff
Erick “Wantsome” Pauley and Michael “Anger” Sweedberg  will be doing the majority of the foot work inviting teams and determining the best dates for this event to take place.

Cody “Morz” Chance has offered his none-direct assistance in managing this tournament from a scheduling stand point.

-Anti-Cheat Staff
Anti-Cheat will be headed up by Andy “theImpaler” Coons whom has a massive amount of experience with PB and things of the like.  Impaler will also be making the coding changes to the R2G PAM mode.

Christopher”JewDefender” H.  will be one of the more recently active Anti-Cheat admins helping out.

Kevin “Starbuck” Koch  has offered to be a consultant of sorts for R2G when he is available.

If there is anyone else with direct Anti-Cheat experience that would like to lend a hand in what will hopefully be the best online mini-tournament in COD4 , please PM me on these forums.

-Spectator Staff
This part of the R2G staff will be on board to spec EVERY match played in R2G #1 , and will be watching for anything out of the ordinary. This list is very long , and once I solidify it I will post it. We are still looking for spectators from the community that are respected figures, PM me on these forums.  If you are a respected figure and haven’t been pm’d by me yet , don’t be offended haha , as I said I had to release this ahead of schedule.

Please keep this thread clear of all flames , this should be good for cod4. If you guys have any ideas, suggestions please post away. Questions will be answered ASAP by someone who can give you a real answer.
