Shawn interviewed Stan from jCp to discuss the status of the team. I have received a lot of PM's in the past couple weeks asking what the current status of the AA team was. I decided to send sTan a few questions to clear up some of the questions that you may of had. Shawn - After winning the first season of CEVO-Pro, a lot of players decided to take a break. What is the whole situation with this, and will we see the same faces playing for jCp on a consistent basis like we saw last season? Or are there plans to bring in new talent? Stan Sellers - A ton has gone into the reasoning behind taking a break. From school to jobs and even other games. We have gone through a ton as a team over the past year. From losing Crazykj to adding dTraf to joining new leagues such as AGC and CEVO along with attending CPL. AGC I felt took a lot out of some of our players including myself and along with all the other leagues dTraf and Ruin really just do not currently have the desire to compete at that same level. Its not being cocky when we say we feel we have reached the highest level possible in AA and would rather sit back and allow new talent to emerge along with the development of the game. I am not sure when or if ever we will have that same desire to push ourself like we have in the past. But to answer your question "Yes" you will see new faces along with some of the old. We have already started to recruit "Noodle" who I feel has what it takes to be a top player in the game one day. Shawn - Currently jCp is competing only in CEVO, after dropping from CAL-Invites due to inactivity from the team. Will jCp be looking to compete in any other leagues in the future? Stan - We are always looking for a challenge and I personally felt that CAL-Invites would be a GREAT challenge because of the level of teams that were in the league. Unfortunately we all needed a break from AA and wound up not being structurally ready as a team in-time to start the season. As for other leagues we will defiantly be interested if we feel it is worth our time. Shawn - The community over the years has seemed to dwindle down, with newer games taking players away. What are your thoughts on improving the game and bringing players back into competition? Stan - AA has been around for a while now and has been running on the same engine for quite some time. Since then newer engines and faster gameplay has emerged as the more popular setup for the gaming population. As everybody knows AA is working on 3.0 along with the newest UnReal engine which will catch AA up to date as far as graphics are concerned. This will also allow AA to expand on more possibilites. As far as the 2.0 series the next patch from what I have read is topping out in all the right areas to improve competitive game play and will surly bring in new players as well as bringing some back. CPL was a real eye opener to some of the key members of the beta/developmental team and have really emphasized curving game play to help competition. That includes weaker flashes and quicker movements. I am really excited. Shawn - CPL offered a summer tournament this past year, if they plan to offer another BYOC will jCp be sending a team to defend the title? Stan - There is no doubt in my mind that -jCp. will send another team. I challenge anybody to go face to face with us and partake in undoubtedly the most exciting AA experience I myself have ever partook. There was not one person who left that LAN asking them self if they would go if they had another chance. Shawn - Are there any other LANs that jCp will be attending? -jCp. will always strive to aid the competitive community in any way possible. And I myself feel LANS help develop and expand any game. And like I touched on before, being in the same room as your competition is something that cant be matched by NET based leagues. So the answer is Yes. If we have the time and the LAN is available count us in.. Shawn - How do you feel the team has progressed throughout the years, from its conception in 2003 till present? Stan - Wow, that is the first word that comes to mind. We have gone through so many up and downs and players its crazy. We have truly come a long way and I must say the most important thing we stressed to build our team was to embrace the game and to be mature in how we treat others as well as our fellow teammates. I can honestly say I would not trade any of the guys on my team for anybody else. Through the years we have by no means been perfect in how we have treated each other or the community but we are family and I would not have it any other way. Shawn - What is the most memorable moment you have had while competing with jCp? Stan - The VALAN we threw and CPL!! Meeting the guys and others throughout the community is a one of a kind experience. There is so many other moments that come to mind such as being apart of the biggest comeback in AA history in CAL finals against iNNo, to battling some of our biggest Rivals down to the wire on the best of 3 maps. But I must say the LANS top all of them. Shawn - Shout outs? Stan - Everybody on the team... and ube "Joel" sPydER "Mike" Vandal "Josh" -niNa- Crazykj "Kyle" Glad "Dillon" and most importantly sEnO "Jon" I feel without his time and contributions he made to this team we would not be around today. |
