It doesnt totally beat out the 260 GTX, but it is the card to get. I have one and it lets me run crysis at 1680x1050 at all high settings with smooth gameplay. And I got it for under 200. Nvidia's response to the AMD HD 4850 is a newer 9800GTX+ edition, but its going to be more expensive, and just as powerful.
Right now the 8800's didnt fall too much in prices (like they should) but the 9800's have. So if you were to get a card, chalk up the extra 20 bucks and grab the 4850.
Sorry pimpin, i should have put in certain cases it beats the 260 GTX, but is always close in performance to it. The 9800GTX+ was tested in the tomshardware review and the 4850 still beats it.
Ah fender buddy. I have my AA running at 4x on my 22" monitor sir. Everything is turned to high except the sound quality, which is turned to very high. I can play crysis fine, I actually just beat it.
There were some blips and choppy frames here and there, but this card really shines with AA on. Unlike its nvidia counterpart, this card is meant to shine with AA running. You can look at some tests to see. When they ran it at higher resolutions in a roundup with AA at full speeds, it didnt suffer as much penalty than the other cards in its category. It only lost minor fps, where the 8 series and 9 series cards lost two to three times as many fps.
** oh and if you have ever played crysis, you know that "all high" settings is not the maximum. There is a "very high" setting which is only completely fulfilled with DX10 drivers, so if you think I play crysis at its full beauty, then you sir need to read a bit more. No card can out right now (minus that tri-sli bullshit) can run crysis at a playable very high on a monitor that is at 1280p and above.

8800GTS (G92) < 9800GTX < HD 4850
8 Series < 9 Series (excluding GX2)< HD4850
if you really turned on antialiasing to like 4x you would have less than 35 fps
SHUTTHEFXUP
but when people say ALL HIGH SETTINGS, it includes aa.
